
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 3 tablespoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup milk
Directions
- Sift dry ingredients into bowl
- Cut in the shortening until like course crumbs
- Make a well in the center of dry ingredients and add milk all at once.
- Stir quickly with fork just until the dough follows the fork around the bowl
- Turn onto lightly floured surface the dough should be soft.
- Knead gently 10-12 strokes.
- Roll or pat dough to 1/2 inches thick.
- Dip 2 1/2-inch cutter in flour; cut dough straight down do not twist.
- Bake in ungreased baking sheet or cast iron pan at 450 degrees for 12-13 minutes. Top should be slightly browned.
